NUIM Academic Staff - Most Qualified in Ireland
Full-time academic staff at NUIM are the most qualified in Ireland.
Students are benefitting from a higher quality of teaching and lecturing when they study at NUIM, as 92 per cent of full-time academic staff employed at National University of Ireland Maynooth hold doctorate level qualifications; evidenced by figures recently provided to the Higher Education Authority of Ireland. NUIM is the only higher education institution in Ireland to break the 90 percent mark in a table showing the level of academic staff with PhD qualifications. In addition, 98 per cent of full time academic staff at NUIM hold a Masters degree or a PhD level qualification.
These figures are in stark contrast with those provided by the other Irish universities and institutes of technology. In terms of PhD level qualification, NUIG and Trinity were closest to NUIM with 84% and 82% respectively, followed by DCU and UCD, with UCC and UL having the lowest level of qualification at 66% and 61% respectively. For full details, see the article published in the Irish Times Newspaper.
These figures are further proof of the high quality of teaching and learning provided by National University of Ireland Maynooth. NUIM has generated increasing international recognition in recent times for the high quality of its academic offering, combined with a friendly and supportive environment, that provides a 'best fit' for students' academic and personal development. NUIM was the only university to rise in the 2011 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and also became the first university outside of North America to be included in the Princeton Review's Best 376 Colleges: 2012 Edition guidebook.
