Students of NUI Maynooth may choose to live on campus in one of three student villages: River Apartments, Rye Hall and Village Apartments. Students also have the possibility of living off campus in shared accommodation that includes self-catering houses and apartments. Most off-campus accommodation is located within walking distance of the university campus.
International students are advised to book their on-campus accommodation as early as possible. You should fill out a residence form and send it directly to the Residence Office at NUI Maynooth. You can download this form at http://residence.nuim.ie/international_students.shtml and other information regarding accommodation for international students on the Residence Office home page.
On-campus accommodation is also available for visitors. Further information is available on www.maynoothcampus.com
Residents pay a €500 deposit for campus accommodation for 2008-09. €485 is a security deposit which also covers utility bills, unused part of the deposit is returned at the end of their stay. Rent on campus is paid in two instalments, one prior to moving in and the other towards the end of January. Rates for individual halls are listed below. €15 of the deposit is a contribution to the Campus Social and Cultural Club which will provide the welcome receptions as well as subsidised activities for campus residents.
If you live on campus in 2008-09 you will receive regular statements of your energy usage. In 2008-09 we will be focussing on energy conservation so all residents will be required to reduce energy usage and also recycle.
Your campus lease is based on 38 weeks so if you were to use an average of €10 per week in electricity and gas costs you will use up €380 of your €485 deposit. This year we will be helping studentsto save energy and reduce their bills.
All payments for Rye and River Apartments are to be made online. Visa, Mastercard and Laser are accepted.
