Disability

NUI Maynooth has a clear policy to encourage applications from students with disability and/or specific learning difficulty. The University provides wide range of supports to students with disabilities.

Disclosing a Disability/Specific Learning Difficulty

If you have a disability and/or specific learning difficulty you are encouraged to indicate this on the appropriate section of the Application Form (although you are not obliged to do so). This will allow us to consider, in consultation with you, any specific support needs you may have in a higher education institution.

If you do not wish to disclose your disability and/or specific learning difficulty on the Application Form, you may do so at any time in college and make arrangements for supports at that stage. However, it may not always be possible to provide adequate supports without any prior notice and consultation.

Please note that disclosure of a disability and/or specific learning difficulty will not adversely affect your application in any way.

The Disability Office at NUI Maynooth provides supports to all students with a disability including students who:

  • Have specific learning disabilities, such as dyslexia
  • Have significant ongoing health issues
  • Experience significant mental health difficulties
  • Have physical and mobility disabilities
  • Are blind or vision impaired
  • Are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Have disabilities such as ADD, ADHD or Asperger's Syndrome

Please refer to the Disability Office for further details on the University's disability policy and supports available.
